Charlotte graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2001, where she studied a BA hons in The History of Art and Architecture. She then went on to undertake a Diploma in Foundation Studies followed by a PGCE in Art and Design at Homerton College, Cambridge, before securing a teaching role in a secondary comprehensive school in Hertfordshire, in 2004. Charlotte worked as an Art and Design teacher for 11 years before becoming Subject Leader for Art and Design and Photography, responsible for designing and delivering the Art curriculum to students aged 11-18. She joined the Hamilton Kerr Institute in 2023.
